Documentary on village life and customs in West Bengal. Centered around the dramatization of a young bride returning to her father’s home for the Festival of Durga, the film depicts the age—old pattern of community life. Villagers are seem at work on rice fields and farms, and engaged in a variety of artisan crafts like silk—weaving, potting, hand—painted scrolls, bamboo weaving, and brass, gold, and copper work. The focal point of the Festival is the image of the goddess Durga, made by the villagers from clay and richly decorated.
