Documentary on agriculture in India and the effects of the government’s Five—Year Development Plan. The Film documents the problems and hardships endured by India’s peasant farmers, who wrestle a meager livelihood from their small holdings owned by city landlords. Primitive living conditions and agricultural methods are gradually improved by the introduction of cooperative farming and the modernization of agricultural techniques. In many cases ox—ploughs and hand—operated wells are replaced with tractors and machine—operated pumps.
